Gareth obtained his Bachelor of Laws from King’s College London and completed his Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the City University of Hong Kong. Gareth joined OLN as a trainee solicitor and was admitted as a Solicitor of the High Court in Hong Kong in 2022.

He is currently assisting in the Tax & Private Client Department, working on non-contentious advisory work in relation to trusts, succession planning and estate administration.

He also has experience handling contentious work in relation to mental health disputes and disputing the validity of a Will, and can conduct civil and criminal litigation including insolvency, shareholders disputes and disciplinary proceedings.

Alex obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering) from the University of Warwick. He then received his Juris Doctor degree and the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the City University of Hong Kong.  Alex completed his training at OLN as a trainee solicitor and became a qualified solicitor of the High Court in Hong Kong in 2023. 

Alex has substantial experience in handling a diverse range of civil and commercial litigation matters including shareholder and director disputes, contractual disputes, fraud cases, insolvency matters (winding-up of companies and bankruptcy), debt recovery and employment matters. Alex also has experience in handling personal injury matters and non-contentious probate matters.

Alex has acted for domestic and international individual and corporate clients including multinational companies and high net-worth individuals and cooperating with lawyers in different jurisdictions.

Profile

Martin joined OLN as an associate in September 2018.

His current practice focuses on commercial litigation. He has experience in handling various contentious matters involving international trade, commercial disputes, land disputes, personal injuries, probate matters, and winding-up proceedings.

Martin’s experience also comprises of advising Hong Kong-listed companies on a variety of compliance matters. In addition, he was familiar with SFC-related matters including licensing applications, regulatory investigations and search warrants.

Before commencing his legal career, Martin also worked briefly as a project assistant for the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data where he gained exposure to data privacy issues.

Lauren joined Oldham, Li & Nie as a Trainee Solicitor at the firm’s Matrimonial and Family Law Department in 2019 where she has worked on matters including divorce, children, ancillary relief and pre-nuptial agreements. Gon joined OLN as a trainee solicitor in 2016. He has experience in various litigation matters including insolvency, shareholders disputes, commercial dispute, tortious claims and criminal proceedings and was involved in a number of high-profile cases in the Court of First Instance and the Court of Appeal. He also has extensive experience in various corporate and commercial matters including restructuring, due diligence, general commercial transactions involving the hospitality industry, trading and also cross-border property transactions.

Prior to joining OLN, Gon worked at a Big Four accounting firm focusing on international arbitration research and insolvency.

Tax Advisory Experience

Assisted a high-net-worth client to handle contentious trust matter and successfully reached settlement with fellow beneficiaries to resolve the dispute amicably, including the process on settlement negotiation, drafting of Deed of Family Arrangement and execution of settlement, so as to reinforce checks and balance among different trust entities and ensure the family trust is compliant with the Canadian Granny Trust structure.
