Profile

Dexter is a dual qualified lawyer (Solicitor of the High Court of Hong Kong in 2022; Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales in 2024), and is currently assisting in the Tax & Private Client Department.

Dexter has vast experiences in handling civil litigations, including commercial litigation, insolvency proceedings (winding-up of companies and bankruptcy), shareholder disputes and arbitrations. He has been involved in the whole cycle of civil proceedings from pre-action investigation and strategy (e.g. jurisdiction, type of relief sought and prospect of recovery) to enforcement of judgments and awards (e.g. garnishee order, charging order and appointment of receiver). In terms of practical matters, Dexter has experiences in taking out discovery application against parties and non-parties, analyzing bank statements in accordance with different tracing principles for asset recovery, and instructing experts in valuating assets in dispute.

In particular, he has developed in-depth knowledge and practical insights in handling cyber fraud. In this area, he has successfully assisted clients to recover substantial amount of funds by means of accounting analysis and tracing exercise.

In his criminal practice, he acted for a client who was charged with defrauding the Hong Kong government in respect of a major government infrastructure. He was involved in the various stages from arrest, application for bail and to the eventual 20-day trial, where senior counsel was instructed to appear for the client.

Aside from his litigation and dispute resolution practice, Dexter also advises on private client and estate planning matters. In this area, he advises clients on the drafting (in either Chinese or English) and execution of wills, as well as the application for the issuance of Grant and the subsequent administration of estate. He also deals with tax controversies for clients, and liaises with the Inland Revenue Department on behalf of client. Moreover, he also has experiences in advising on the execution and registration of Enduring Power of Attorney (EPOA), and in handling mental health proceedings (including defending claims from the Committee to claw-back for the estate).
