Stephen Holmes is a Registered Foreign Lawyer in our Hong Kong office. His practice focuses on cross border business tax, securities and business law. His international clients range from governments, trusts, and banks to entrepreneurs.

Stephen has a TEP designation from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and has lectured and written extensively in Europe, Asia and North America in regard to tax, estate planning, immigration and corporate governance.

Prior to joining OLN, Stephen worked at another large National Canadian law firm and subsequently operated his own firm for 34 years.

• Advises financial institutions in Switzerland and Lichtenstein with Canadian depository in regard to voluntary disclosure, compliance and alternatives;
• Assists clients to cease residency in Canada and obtain residency in Malta and Panama;
• Assists clients in regard to minimising global tax through the use of non- resident corporations and treaties;
• Advises clients in regard to the formation of non-resident trusts for estate planning and distribution of assets to Canadians;
• Negotiates for the sale of private companies. Advises in regard to restructuring to optimize after tax sale proceeds through the use of domestic trusts. Protection of intellectual property, employment contracts, shareholders agreements and holding companies.

Ken Masuyama is a Registered Foreign Lawyer in our Hong Kong office and admitted as an attorney at law in Japan (Bengoshi) in 2015. He has wide experience in cross-border issues between Japan and Hong Kong. His practice focuses corporate and commercial matters, regulatory and compliance, and intellectual property. Particularly in IP area, he was appointed as a lecturer of intellectual property law in Kyoto Sangyo University in the academic year 2018/19. With broad knowledge and experience in both general corporate and IP area, he has advised not only listed companies but also start-ups and SMEs in Japan to expand business to Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Ken also advises Hong Kong clients on general issues in starting business and property transaction in Japan. His field covers incorporation, immigration, tax, trademarks and real estate transaction and he has assisted Hong Kong enterprises with launching business and investment in Japan from holistic perspective.

Prior to joining OLN, he has worked at one of the big-four law firms in Osaka and a local law firm in HK specialised in cross-border matters.

Il a une expérience toute particulière des problématiques transfrontalières entre la France et Hong Kong et des procédures d’exécution. Il agit régulièrement pour le compte de sociétés françaises ou de personnes physiques et sociétés Hongkongaises ayant des intérêts spécifiques en France. Son domaine d’expertise va du conseil en droit des sociétés au droit du travail en passant par le droit commercial et il est notamment en charge d’un nombre important de “Private clients”, et traite à ce titre des questions matrimoniales et fiscales pour cette clientèle.

Il a précédemment travaillé à Buenos Aires, Paris et Luxembourg.
