Michael has spent the majority of his career in law and finance in Asia. After qualifying with Allen & Overy in London in 1993, he moved to Asia in 1996, and then left private practice in 2000 to work as an inhouse lawyer at Goldman Sachs focusing primarily on advising an internal proprietary investing team specializing in distressed debt, corporate restructuring, and private equity. His next move was to a commercial role within a principal investing unit at JP Morgan and as a Managing Director he led an investment team responsible for structuring transactions across a broad range of industry sectors around the world. Recently Michael has represented US private equity funds as their head regional internal counsel, advising them on both downstream investments and portfolio management issues as well as setting up investment platforms and regulatory issues. He has a wide experience of structuring and financing transactions across the capital structure from both an equity and a debt perspective.
